Destination Wedding Invitations: Things you should include

Making destination wedding invitations means that you will need to include more details than for a traditional wedding. Also, you don’t want all your guests to call you to ask for more information or to get lost once they arrive.
So, here is a list of everything you have to include in your destination wedding invitations!

The main details

The destination

First of all, it is really important to state clearly what is the destination of your wedding. If you plan a wedding in Paris, France you don’t want your guests to book a flight for Paris, Texas. So, at the beginning of your invitation clearly state the city and the country.

The venue

Include the venue of your wedding reception in your invitations. If you also have a ceremony, add the ceremony’s venue.

Wedding date and time

A destination wedding might last a few days. So, clearly state the date of your wedding ceremony and reception. Also, include the time to make sure that no one will be late.

Trip dates

As we just said, a destination wedding usually lasts a few days. So, do state on your destination wedding invitations the exact trip dates. If you need your guests to arrive before a certain time also add this information. An example would be if, for example, all the transportations stopped at 10 pm or if you planned to have a welcome dinner with your guests.

On-Site information

What they would like to do

As you will spend a few days with your guests, you might want to include some activities to discover the region or just to have fun. As you want your guests to enjoy these activities, ask them what they would like to do. Or, you can also select a few activities and ask them which one they would prefer.

Hotels information

All your guests will need to get an accommodation for your destination wedding. So, you might have reserved a block of rooms for your guests.
If that’s the case, then do provide them the name of the hotel, the address, how they should contact them to book a room and what they need to say to ask for these pre-reserved rooms.
If you did not reserve a block of rooms for your guests, then tell them what are the possible accommodations near your wedding venue.

Transportation

When you organize a destination wedding, all or most of your guests will be out of towners. So, they will need transportation. As they already spent a lot on accommodation and travel, they will expect you to provide transportation. Here are the different transportations you have to plan:

  • Airport pickup/drop-off
  • Transportation to/from the ceremony
  • Transportation to/from reception
  • Transportation to/from group activities

So, do include in your destination wedding invitations what transportation is planned. You should also state when is this transportation available. For the airport, maybe the shuttle will only be available from 10 am to 8 pm. This is something your guests need to know.
Wedding tips: When choosing the hotel where your guests will stay, check if the hotel does airport pickup/drop-off. Choosing a hotel that provides this service could save you a lot of money.

RSVP

RSVP deadline

A destination wedding asks for a lot of planning. So, on your RSVP card, do include when your guests should answer. To know what date to ask, consider the deadlines of your wedding vendors. Your caterer, for example, will tell you he needs the final count before a certain date.

Tell your guests how you want them to answer

Maybe you want them to send back the RSVP, or you want them to answer on your wedding website. Whatever is your preference, you need to include this information on your RSVP card.

Your wedding website

If you want to put too much information on your destination wedding invitations and it doesn’t fit, it could be a great idea to create a wedding website. All the details you will include on your destination wedding invitations are really important and some of your guests might lose these papers. So, having everything on a wedding website is a great way to make sure that everyone will be able to access all the necessary information anytime.

Are kids allowed?

This might be a difficult statement to add. But it is really important to clearly state if kids are invited or not. This might also impact the RSVP answers so be really clear on this point.
